Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County Hansen Dam Bird Walk @ HANSEN DAM RECREATION CENTER SPORTS COMPLEX

Celebrate Bird L.A. Day by joining NHMLA Ornithologist Kimball Garrett for an easy walk through the bird-rich riparian, wetland and scrub habitats at Hansen Dam in the northeast San Fernando Valley. Nearly 300 bird species have been recorded in the Hansen Dam Basin, along the Los Angeles River tributary of Tujunga Creek. This is one of the best places in Los Angeles County to see sensitive riparian woodland bird species such as (Least) Bell’s Vireo, Yellow-breasted Chat and Blue Grosbeak, and early May is an ideal time for those species along with a variety of migrants and year-round residents.
